The
Humid Pampas The
Humid Pampas
The Humid Pampas cover almost entirely the vast plains
in the east of Argentina, taking up most of the province
of Buenos Aires. The region is denoted by two low mountain
ranges: in the center, Tandil, of approximately 1,500
ft. high, and more to the south, Sierra de la Ventana,
of 4,000 ft.
This rich and fertile land extension is populated by
establishments dedicated to agriculture and cattle grazing.
Tandil and Sierra de la Ventana present crystalline
skies framing their rocky landscapes and they offer
the possibility of doing adventure tours. Towards the
east, we shall find the River Plate with its immense
estuary and, more to the south, the Atlantic Ocean.
The major tourist attraction of this region is its capital
city, Buenos Aires, core commercial, industrial and
cultural center of Argentina. This breathtaking city
has numerous shopping malls, pubs, traditional cafés,
restaurants, theaters, music shows, museums and a unique
architectural heritage in Latin America in its purest
classical French and Italian structural design.
Along the Atlantic coast, we may find countless tourist
cities situated by the seashore, presenting a wide variety
of beach resorts, ranging from the always traditional
and populated Mar del Plata, to the most exclusive beaches
in Pinamar and Cariló, together with the new
ones, such as Mar de la Pampas.
Outdoor activities: water sports and
sport fishing on the coast; historical and cultural
tours in Buenos Aires; shopping; trekking; adventure
touring on low mountain ranges; horseback riding; wildlife
watching and small game and big game hunting.
